Question: Who is this app designed to help?
Answer: This app is designed to improve the emotional health of adults and families affected by a disaster.
Question: If I participate in the study, who will have access to my information?
Answer: Your responses will be kept confidential to the fullest extent of the law. Only the investigators and appropriate professional consultants and staff will have authorized access to any data collected by this project. Your name will not be recorded. All data will be referred to by identification number only. Data will be kept secure and separate from identifying information. The likelihood that these methods will not effectively protect the confidentiality of participants is extremely low.
Question: Will this app increase my cell phone bill?
Answer: Although the app uses a minimal amount of data, every effort has been made to limit the amount that this app will use. It is always a good idea to be aware of your individual data limits. You can contact your service provider to find out more about your data plan.
Question: If I participate, will you need any of my contact information?
Answer: Your e-mail address is required to participate so that we can send you gift codes and study reminders. All information is confidential. Once you’ve enrolled in the study, you may withdraw from the study at any time.
Question: How are you going to use this information?
Answer: The study team will use the information to learn how much the Bounce Back Now app helps adults and families recover emotionally after a disaster. Your participation is extremely valuable to the learning process. This study is funded by the National Institutes of Health. Technical details about the study can be found here.
Question: Do I have to complete all parts of the study?
Answer: You may choose to stop participating at any time.
Question: I completed my check-up but I didn’t receive my gift code. What should I do?
Answer: Your gift code is sent to your preferred contact information (text, push notification, or e-mail). If you do not remember receiving it, or accidentally deleted it, you can always find your gift codes listed under the Rewards tab in the app. Try that first. If that doesn't work, please contact our office via email at or at 888-889-1109.
Question: The app seems to be responding slowly as I navigate.
Answer: Try connecting to WIFI. This should speed things up significantly.
Question: The app does not seem to be working. It is not taking me where I want to go and seems frozen.
Answer: Unfortunately, many features in the app only work properly when your device is connected to the internet. Connect to WIFI if you can, but if not, try to find a place where you have cell reception.
